Without our fantastic volunteers, Twins Trust would not be the charity that it is today.
Our volunteering roles are varied and rewarding. They can also be as little or as much as you like and should be able to fit around your lifestyle.
If you’ve been thinking about volunteering we can support you with training and volunteering offers a great way to prepare yourself for returning to the workplace.
Have a look at our roles and please get in touch if you’d like to find out more.
Twinline listeners
Parents of twins, triplets or more who would be available for up to six hours a month to take calls from fellow parents seeking support. You receive the calls at your own home via a freephone number. Listeners would be expected to attend one days training plus two webinars.
For an informal chat about becoming a listener, please contact the Support Team on 01252 332344 weekdays between 10am and 4pm, or please email our Twinline co-ordinator.
Practical Preparing for Parenthood facilitators
Our practical preparing for parenthood courses are extremely popular amongst expectant parents and facilitators are all parents themselves. Expectant parents can expect to receive good advice and support about what life might be like when you have twins or more. The course covers everything from how to put multiples to bed, feeding two or more at the same time and what kind of buggy to buy. Facilitators receive full training and the courses are run all over the country and last two hours.
If you have any questions, please contact our courses co-ordinator.
Honorary consultants for education
If you are a qualified teacher looking to volunteer then this could be the role for you! It involves supporting multiple birth families by responding to referrals from Twins Trust concerning primary and secondary school issues. This could be about delayed entry, keeping twins in the same class, or splitting them. Volunteers will need to be available evenings and weekends.
Trustees
Our board of trustees set and monitor the strategic direction of the charity. They meet around 5 times a year, usually on a Saturday morning in central London. Ideally applicants will be employed in a senior role and have experience of advising a board, or would not be phased doing so.
Honorary consultants for family therapy
If you are a qualified family therapist, psychotherapist or psychologist then you might be interested in giving something back and helping in cases that begin to affect the family. For example parents encountering difficulties after the birth of their twins, triplets or more, psychological issues between multiples and parents, adolescence, adult twins who have lost their twin, couples where one is a twin.
Again, it would be hours to suit you.
Fundraisers
We are always looking for people to help raise funds for us so we can continue providing our families with the information and support they need to enable them to thrive. Help us to raise awareness, invest in research and campaign for the best possible outcomes for our families.
You can help by taking on a challenge to raise funds, or why not nominate us as your charity of the year at your workplace? Take a chance on the Twins Trust Lottery, or simply make a straight forward donation, and don’t forget to Gift Aid it!
Office helpers
If you live in or around Aldershot in Hampshire, maybe you could spare a few hours helping in our office?
If you’re interested in any of these roles, please complete this simple application form and we’ll be in touch.
