We’re losing count now! HOW many celebrities have been welcomed into the multiples club this year?

Well, it’s now been confirmed footballing legend Cristiano Ronaldo has also joined the ranks.

For days the rumours have been flying that he’d had twins via surrogacy. Now the BBC has reported that Ronaldo announced the birth of his twins hours after he captained Portugal to semi-final defeat in the Confederations Cup in Russia.

He wrote on Facebook: “I’m very happy, finally, to be with my children for the first time.”

He already has a son, Cristiano Ronaldo junior, who was born in June 2010. It’s rumoured the twins, said to be a boy and a girl, have been named Eva and Mateo.

Twins Trust CEO Keith Reed was delighted to hear the news. He said: “Another celebrity has joined our gang!

“I want to offer a big congratulations to Ronaldo and all his family on the fantastic blessing that twins bring to their circle.

“Like many dads, I’m sure he is keen to spend plenty of time with his new babies, learning their little quirks and watching their individual personalities develop.

“If, like the footballer, you’re also a new dad of twins, we have a factsheet for partners to help you out.”
